Vintage Sunday

This Sunday I’ve been to the The Vintage Furniture Flea in Bethnal Green (East London). I have to say that, I haven’t appreciate Vintage Style since I moved to London. This city seems to be crazy about it. Even if I didn’t have much money to spend ( as I’m trying to save it for my trip to NY 🙂 ) I think there were few little beautiful things that make the visit worth while.Vintage Furniture Flea

The Fair is covering furniture, homewares, textiles, lights and prints, with a focus on mid-century and vintage style. Honestly I found that there weren’t as many pieces of furniture, but the most interesting ones were on a little corner at the left side, just off the main space.

September Inspiration

I can’t believe it’s September already.

I always loved and hated this time of the year: summer is almost over, schools starts again (sometimes I wish I was still at school), days are getting shorter, but, at the same time, it is the best moment to start with some fresh ideas, change things, clean the house, buying new schoolbooks ( do you remember the excitement of buying new notebooks, books and pencils before school starts? I can almost smell it :0 ), or simply make some plans for winter.

H&M Home Collection

I recently just found out that H&M has a lovely Home Collection. A bit late in discovering this, I know, but it was a good surprise.

I found on Stylizmo  (of my favourite blogs) the photo of this beautiful bookend:

I was so surprised when I found out it was from H&M…. I never knew they also have a Home collection, like Zara Home or French Connection Home.  After all H&M is a Scandinavian brand, so I must check that out!

Last Sunday I was in the centre with my boyfriend for a quick shopping,  before our visit to Ireland next week, and I didn’t miss the opportunity to drag him into and H&M shop.

I couldn’t find the bookend, but I discovered  a lot of lovely things. The prices are also very accessible. Here’s my wishlist:

  1. Small Wire Basket 2. Stoneware Jug 3. Patterned Tea Towel 4.Felted Storage Basket 5. Stoneware Mug 6.Round Mirror 7. Basket in Metal wire 8. Round Tray

For now I bought just a new Natural Linen Duvet cover, very nice and fresh, perfect for these last London Summer days. But I’ll be back soon 🙂

Did you know H&M Home? Did you buy any good thing there? How is the quality?

Online Design Shops Review #1

Buying stuff online nowadays is so easy and affordable, but in terms of designer furniture and accessories, I’m never so sure where to buy and which sites to trust.

OnlineDesignShopsreviewI thought I’d share with you (design addicted people out there) some of my favourite furniture and design shops, to share my experience and tips:

MADE IN DESIGN madeindesignreview

It’s a French website which has got a very broad catalogue of furniture, lamps & accessories. They sell most of the popular Design Brands and also some small independent ones.

They also have some exclusive sales every now and again, where you can really grab a bargain. Most of the time they are ex display with little scratches etc but generally in good conditions.

I bought the Artemide Eclisse table lamp on a special sale on this website and I am very happy with it. The site was easy to navigate and order from.

Delivery (to UK) was pretty quick if  the product is on stock, they use a good courier company (I can’t remember the name), so you can easily track it.

Unfortunately they don’t offer Saturday delivery 😦

The customer service was also very good and very responsive.

If you love Scandinavian design this is the website for you. The selection of pieces is carefully curated with all the main Nordic Brands (like Artek, &Tradition, Ferm Living, Muuto, Hay etc etc ) . It feels like shopping in Copenhagen ( oh well almost…)

Delivery was quick and customer service was good too. They used DHL as a courier which gave me a bit of headache with the fact that they don’t call you before delivering big parcels or let you select a delivery time slot -and no Saturday delivery again 😦

Apart from that, prices are also quite good (but beware that are in Euro) and they also have some exclusive campaigns with exclusive items.

I got my Hay Tray bedside table here, and I was really pleased with the service and price ( I got it on sales, and with free delivery too).

The inspiration section is one of my favourite, I could spend all of the day there 🙂

Monoqi is a German Website which ships to UK and (i believe) to Europe too, full of interesting Furniture, Designer pieces, Fashion accessories.

You have to register to be able to access their “Daily Sales Offers”. They add new offers every day for a limited period and with good discounts. Most of the time their products are from very unique and interesting brands from all over the world.

I often use it as an inspiration, to get to know some new brands. I just bought some small items from here, but I was pretty pleased with the customer service and delivery.

Only down side:  sometimes you have to wait a long time for the delivery (that’s probably how they manage to keep the prices low), but they also have an Outlet section on the website with ready to ship items.

LOVETHESIGNLovethesign is an Italian website which was founded in 2012. It’s been growing a lot in the last few years (they ship worldwide too). The selections of pieces is very broad, and mostly focus on Italian Brands (of course…). They offer top brands at very attractive prices.

Keep an eye on the  promo sales section  which is updated weekly, I found some cool Flos Lamps in here recently.

I can’t comment on their UK delivery, as the only time I shop here I had items delivered to Italy, but it was very quick and smooth.

5 best FURNITURE online shops

Tanini Home is a really nice Italian website specialised on furniture and bathroom. They have shops in Milan and Florence and they ship to UK and Europe ( free for order > 50£)

They store a good selection of Italian and  Scandinavian Brands (basically all my favourite ones:-) ).

I bought my wall shelf from them on sale and it got delivered really quickly. The prices are good and they always have discounts codes (if you sign on the newsletter)  and Outlet item on sale. Worth a visit.

That’s all for now. I hope you’ll find my list interesting or helpful when you want to upgrade your interior. Leave me a comment and tell me which is your favourite design online shop as I’d love to discover new ones .

P.S. All the reviews are my personal opinion, no sponsored, endorsed or censored

The Perfect Bedside table

Choosing the perfect bedside table isn’t an easy task. Especially when there’s not much available space.

With only 34 cm to play with, this was my selection shortlist :

1. Backenzahn stool | e15 – £638

2. Fosta Stool | IKEA – £ 8

3. Hay Tray Square table – £ 119

4. VITTSJÖ | IKEA – £ 20

5. Butcher Table | Ethnicraft – £ 259

I decided to go for number 3, the Hay Tray square small table, white matte.

I can’t stress enough how minimal, pure, elegant and practical this table is!!! I also managed to get on the latest sales for a bit less than 100£ (yeahhh !!!)

It fits the space perfectly, the only problem I had was that it’s a bit too low for the height of the bed, which stop me from buying a matching one (I’ve never been a big fan of mirrored bedside tables anyway…).

I managed to solve the problem by placing a MUJI shelf raiser underneath, where I can also store some of my magazines and books.

The small Eclisse Lamp by Artemide, is the perfect final touch: a masterpiece designed by the Italian designer Vico Magistretti.

WHAT I LIKE: Simple and elegant

WHAT I DON’T LIKE: The tray sits loose on the metal frame (even if sometimes it’s useful)

WHAT I’D CHANGE: Having a slightly taller option would be nice…

Hope you like it.
