Last week I was in NY for a work trip and as soon as I got a few hours free on the weekend, I visited this amazing concept store in Soho.
While the entrance could be a bit intimidating (the lift from the road is a bit like: ‘Where the hell am I going?’), once you get at the 3rd floor you’re catapulted into the most beautiful light-filled open-air apartment in the heart of SoHo.
The airy yet cozy living room, framed on one side by a Corinthian column, is a beautiful collection of textures, objects, elements, smells, carefully styled, where customers can look, try and eventually buy.
I really liked the big mirror that reflects the light inside and all the little frames casually placed on the wall. An eclectic mix of Scandinavian and NY style: black white and gold were the main color palette.
Pass the living room, on the left, there are the kitchen area and a small dining area. Keep walking down and you’ll pass through a beautiful walk-in closet (aka every girl dream) with a big Fritz Hansen bench in the center of it and changing room on each side. This closed divide the day and night area.
The bedroom is a mix of soft and warm textures and the beautiful vintage bathtub is like a sculpture on one side of the room, creating a lovely intimate corner.
Lots of scents and smells will invade you here (really hard to resist the urge to buy all of that beautifully curated collection of beauty products and candles). No.04 Bois de Balincourt – Eau de Parfum was my favorite one.
The soft and cozy bedroom make you feel like you wanna lay down on that bed for a quick nap…
I love how every single space of the apartment was perfectly styled by the talented James E. Jean, even the window sills were full of lovely books and objects, but everything was so well balanced that didn’t’ result too cramped.
The Apartment by the Line is a special gem that worth a visit if you’re in NY and if you can afford, buy a piece or two to bring home with you.
