It’s been a week since I’ve come back from that incredible city and I’d like to share with you a quick shopping design guide. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
ModernLink
An amazing showroom with a collection of modernist Danish Designs sourced directly from Denmark restored and upholsteried by the owners.
The space inside is full of incredible iconic chairs, tables and cabinets.
I almost wanted to buy the leather Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair:

MoMA Design Store
In the vibrant SoHo you can’t skip this big and colourful shop: it will definitely catch your attention:
Spread over two levels, in a typical newyorker brick building, you can find and buy classic pieces of yesterday and today, from masterpieces to small everyday objects.
Each piece is carefully considered and selected by the museum curators. The Eclisse Lamp I’ve got on my bedside table is one of the pieces too !
I love this tool box, it would be the perfect gift for my dad
The lower level is focused on furniture, lamps, toys, design books and art. It really worth a visit, even just to buy a little souvenir, also every purchase will support the museum programs.

Sur La Table
Welcome to the kitchen mecca: everything you didn’t know you need it, you can find in this industrial looking shop in the middle of SoHo.
Anything from cookware, dinnerware, coffee machines and kitchen electrics, cutlery, bake ware…. name one and they’ll find it here.
I loved this mug with my initial 🙂
And of course who doesn’t need a red popcorn bowl for a perfect movie night?
They also offer cookery classes in the shop. Check their website for more info.

Crate & Barrel
Probably one of the biggest design shop chain in US, but I was really interesting in exploring it.
The Broadway shop is the one I went to and it’s divided on two floors. Furniture were upstairs, while downstairs there was a vast selection of home accessories, kitchen and decoration.
I really liked those oil and vinegar set, and the marble mortar and pestle. I ended up in buying just some canvas table mats, but the good news is that they sell online and ships to UK too …

Still House
Moving to the East Village I found this little pretty store.

Photo from Time Out
With a kind of Japanese gallery-style, this tiny shop has got a nice selection of contemporary glass, ceramic and few jewellery from local & international artists.
Those two amazing avocado glasses are so clever, the owners explained me the tricks to grow one (I’ve been trying to grow mine since last March, but it doesn’t look as good as those yet).

Lancelotti Housewares
Still in the East Village, this shop offers an eclectic selection of gifts, households and kitchen accessories. The very colourful window shops will catch your eye.
The shop is small but very organised and full of interesting and colourful items.

I hope you enjoy reading this guide (leave me a comment below if you find it useful).
If you’re planning to go to NY remember to check the websites before getting disappointed, as I found that lot of places open & close or relocate quite often 😦 .
