This Sunday I’ve been to the The Vintage Furniture Flea in Bethnal Green (East London). I have to say that, I haven’t appreciate Vintage Style since I moved to London. This city seems to be crazy about it. Even if I didn’t have much money to spend ( as I’m trying to save it for my trip to NY 🙂 ) I think there were few little beautiful things that make the visit worth while.
The Fair is covering furniture, homewares, textiles, lights and prints, with a focus on mid-century and vintage style. Honestly I found that there weren’t as many pieces of furniture, but the most interesting ones were on a little corner at the left side, just off the main space.
I instantly spotted those two Bertoia chairs:
I am still regretting not bringing one home for just 195£, but I wasn’t 100% sure it was an original piece so I decided not to risk (and to save some ££££).
From the same vendor there were some lovely mid century pieces. Have a look at the website for a full list.
Another interesting piece was this Danish style button-back leather swivel armchair from ETCH Interiors :
or this pair of mid century chairs:
The rest of the stuff was still pretty cool, mostly homeware, some nice lamps and decorations, here’s a selection of my best finds:
I really liked the brown and white tea set and this coffee grinder….
WHAT I LIKE: The venue was a nice discovery.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: Very busy, plus a lot of nice pieces were already sold 😦
WHAT I’D CHANGE: Next time I will get the early bird tickets, so I can have a look around a bit earlier without so many people…
Do you like vintage markets? Have you got any good ones to suggest where to find beautiful things?
